Staff Tax Accountant
Reports to: Senior Tax Accountant
Primary Function
Staff Tax Accountants are responsible for completing the work assigned to them in a professional and timely manner, assisting the in-charge Senior Tax Accountant to the best of their ability, and to proactively take on responsibilities to assist the tax team.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare federal and state partnership, corporate, not-for-profit, and other tax returns
- Analysis and preparation of estimates and projections for potential client transactions
- Research federal and state tax issues
- Develop client relationships by providing timely and accurate client service to exceed client expectations
- Assist with resolving disputes or inquiries from tax authorities
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- General knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and other tax laws
- Understanding of financial accounting and GAAP
- Research and analytical skills
- Knowledge of book/tax adjustments
- Able to read and understand legal, corporate and debt documents
- Team player/ability to work well with co-workers and other departments
- Computer literate, particularly spreadsheets, Microsoft Suite, tax return software (a plus)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to details
Educational Requirements and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or an advanced degree in accounting
- CPA license or progress toward completion of license requirements (a plus)
- Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
