Tax Manager
Reports to: Senior Tax Manager
Primary Function
The Tax Manager is responsible for supervising staff and coordinating engagements. Tax Managers have authority over all staff assigned to an engagement. Their responsibilities include planning the engagement, supervising, and reviewing their work. In addition, they will be responsible for tax planning strategies and business advisory to maintain federal and state tax compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide tax compliance for partnerships, not-for-profits, and corporations
- Develop client relationships by providing timely and accurate client service to exceed client expectations
- Effectively delegate responsibilities and monitor efforts of the tax team
- Review returns prepared by tax staff
- Research complex tax issues, apply findings in appropriate manner, and clearly communicate those findings with the clients and fellow tax staff
- Implement knowledge of federal and state tax law updates as applicable
Educational Requirements and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and current CPA license
- Minimum 5 years of experience in real estate industry
- Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
- Strong sense of ownership of services performed and overseen
- Proficiency in management oversight and working well as a team
- Experience with multi-entity business structures and real estate transactions
- Advanced tax research skills in federal and state tax laws
- Computer literate, particularly spreadsheets, Microsoft Suite, tax return software (CCH ProSystem FX tax preferred), research software (CCH, etc.)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
