In September 2001, Christine organized the firm with the mission to serve clients at a level that exceeds expectations. The firm focuses on the affordable housing industry to ensure client compliance with dynamic and challenging regulations. She also organized the firm knowing that depth and skill of staff is imperative to firm and client success. Christine’s thirty plus years in public accounting began at Smith and Radigan, PC in Atlanta, Georgia. She specializes in the financial and compliance audits of affordable regulated multifamily housing entities.  She is a member of the AICPA and FICPA and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1992 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and Major in Accounting.

After graduating with his Bachelors of Science in Accounting from Bob Jones University in 2003, Sam began working as an intern at Carter & Company. He now has over 20 years of experience in partnership taxation, specializing in affordable housing and tax credits. Sam also has significant experience with the evolving issues surrounding tax-exempt organizations. He is a member of the AICPA, FICPA, and SCACPA. Sam and his wife have two daughters who keep them busy with their activities. He is active in his local church as an AWANA leader.

Ken graduated from Auburn University in 1979. His thirty plus years of experience began at Touche Ross (aka Deloitte & Touche USA LLP) in Atlanta, Georgia then Smith & Radigan, PC where he was a partner for twelve years. He specializes in the financial audits of affordable regulated multifamily housing properties as well as partnership taxation. Ken has experience in all phases of audit, accounting and tax and is a member of the AICPA and FICPA. Currently, he serves on the board of Habitat for Humanity of Walton County. Ken enjoys cooking, general aviation and deep sea fishing.

Ashleigh is a seasoned Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from the University of West Florida. She began her professional journey with an internship at Carter & Company, where she gained valuable experience during two busy seasons before joining the firm full-time in 2012. Ashleigh earned her CPA license in June 2017.

With a focus on financial statement and compliance audits, Ashleigh specializes in affordable regulated multifamily housing projects and common interest realty associations. Her expertise supports clients in navigating complex regulatory requirements, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining compliance.

A dedicated member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), the Florida Institute of CPAs (FICPA), and the Community Associations Institute (CAI), Ashleigh is committed to maintaining the highest professional standards.

Originally from Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Ashleigh enjoys spending quality time with her husband and children outside of work.

Clara graduated from the University of West Florida in 2008 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in Accounting.  She was a member of the UWF golf team and Uruguay national golf team for four years.  In 2008, she joined Carter & Company and is a member of AICPA and FICPA.  Clara specializes in audit.  Clara was born and raised in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Christina holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Florida State University and a Master of Accountancy degree from the University of West Florida. She began her career with Carter & Company as an intern, gaining extensive experience over five busy seasons before transitioning to a full-time role in 2013. In January 2018, Christina achieved licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Her expertise lies in partnership and CIRA taxation and is a member of the AICPA and FICPA. Outside of work, Christina enjoys traveling, cooking, and cherishing moments with her family and two dogs.

Justin graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi in 2012 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Accounting and from The University of West Florida in 2014 with a Masters of Accountancy degree.  He was an intern for one busy season before coming on full time in 2013.  He is a junior member of the AICPA and FICPA.  Justin was born and raised in Fort Walton Beach, Florida and enjoys sports, the outdoors, and spending time with his wife and two daughters.

Monica earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Accounting with a minor in Management, from the University of West Florida in 2017. She completed an internship during a busy season at Carter & Company before securing a full-time position. Currently, Monica is preparing for the CPA exam. Born and raised in Miami, Florida, she enjoys culinary experiences, traveling, spending quality time with friends and family, and training her beloved dog, Emma.

Jay graduated from the University of West Florida in 2015 with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration degree with a major in Accounting and a minor in Finance. He was an intern for one busy season at Carter & Company before accepting a full time position in 2015 and is a member of the AICPA and FICPA. Jay was born and raised in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida and enjoys traveling, sports, and spending time with friends and family.

Hans graduated from the University of West Florida in 2003 with his BSBA Degree in Accounting.  He started his public accounting career at Carr, Riggs & Ingram and continued at Saltmarsh, Cleaveland & Gund before joining Carter & Company in 2017.  Hans has experience in individual, fiduciary, nonprofit, corporate and partnership taxation and is a member of the AICPA and FICPA.  He is married with one child and enjoys travelling to historical sites of the American Colonial through Civil War eras.

Carmen earned her accounting degree from the University of West Florida and has spent the past 21 years working in public accounting.  She has prepared a variety of returns including individual, corporate and partnership returns for firms in Pensacola and Fort Walton Beach before joining Carter & Company. She is a member of Impact 100. She is married with one son. She enjoys books, film and traveling with her family.

LaDonna graduated from Evangel College in Springfield, Missouri, with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and Major in Accounting. She began working with Carter & Company in 2007 and is the compliance manager for the affordable regulated multifamily housing properties. LaDonna began her career with a large management company and spent ten years as an accountant of multifamily housing properties. She was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, is married with three children and enjoys traveling.

Elena Silva graduated from the University of West Florida in December 2021 with Master in Professional Accountancy (Macc). She completed an internship program at Carter & Company CPA before accepting full-time position. Elena’s goal is to complete and obtain CPA license soon. She was born and raised in Eastern Europe, and she is fluent in multiple languages. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, doing photography, and traveling.

Veronika graduated from the University of West Florida in Spring 2022 with a Master of Professional Accountancy (MAcc) degree. She has twelve years of hospitality management experience. Veronika began working with Carter & Company in 2022. She is currently studying for the CPA exam and planning to get her CPA license soon. Veronika was born and raised in Russia and enjoys cooking, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.

Oleksandra graduated from the University of West Florida (UWF) in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with a major in Accounting and a minor in Finance. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from National Technical University of Ukraine “KPI” before moving to United States. Additionally, Oleksandra has completed a number of courses in Computer Science while attending UWF and has completed the necessary Master’s courses needed for CPA exam. After serving as an intern at Carter and Company, she accepted a full-time position on the Audit Staff, and is currently working toward her CPA. Oleksandra is proficient in multiple languages. She enjoys traveling, painting, sewing, gardening, and boating.

Erik graduated from the University of West Florida in 2024 with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting. Prior to joining Carter & Company, he worked as a 1040 tax return intern for Wolters Kluwer and later as the accounts payable accountant for Holley By The Sea. He is an aspiring CPA and affiliate member of the FICPA. Erik enjoys cooking, reading, going to the beach, and walking his dogs in his spare time.

Camila graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Accounting with a minor in Management in 2019 from The University of West Florida. She began her accounting career working as an intern at Warren Averett in 2020 and continued at Sauls CPA & Associates before relocating and joining Carter & Company in 2024.   Camila was born in Colombia, making her fluent in Spanish and English. She has experience in individual, corporate, partnership and nonprofit taxation. She is a mother who enjoys taking care of her home, loves exploring new places and nature, and mostly spending her time with family.

Dee Dee attended college in Denison and Dallas, Texas.  Her over 40 plus years of administrative experience include managing a legal and business newspaper and executive assistant and capital campaign coordinator for the YMCA of Florida’s Emerald Coast. In 2007 she joined Carter & Company.  Dee Dee was born in Sacramento, California, raised near Dallas, Texas.  She has two children and is Treasurer of her HOA and enjoys biking, kayaking and beach time.

Michelle has lived in Panhandle area of Florida for over 40 years and has worked with Carter & Company as Quality Control since 2013.  Michelle comes with 20 plus years of Banking and Customer Relations experience.  Her daughter, son in law and grandson also live in the area and she loves spending time with them. She enjoys road trips and making memories with her Grandson, and photography.
